Meet the Teacher
Welcome to my class! I'm excited to be a part of your child's journey through learning. I am eager to get to know all of my students - their talents, skills, humour, and curiousity. I thought I'd let you know a bit about me, too.
I grew up in Mississauga, Ontario and completed my undergraduate degree in History at the University of Toronto, as well as an academic year abroad in Leeds, England. After 3 years working at an entrepreneurial coaching company in Toronto and volunteering as a Girl Guide Leader on the side, I knew teaching was my calling. I packed up my things and moved to Ottawa to complete my Bachelors of Education in 2010. While my French has only slightly improved, I have attained my Special Education Part 1 and ESL Specialist qualifications in the meantime. I have also gained significant experience in the special needs field working as a Life Skills and Empowerment Coordinator here in Ottawa.
As a graduate of the Global Perspectives Cohort, I wish to incorporate the themes of peace, justice, human rights, and environmental sustainability. Having hiked up mountains all over the world, from Montana, to Romania, to the top of Scotland to the south of Spain, keeping active and taking care of our environment is very important to me and I hope to infuse similar enthusiasm in the classroom. In between school hours, you can always find me on the trails of Gatineau Park, playing ultimate frisbee, or planning my upcoming wedding! This is my second year at Broadview and can't wait for that it has in store!
